Personal highlights for Niykee include being selected by a scout to join Snoop at the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, as well as writing songs in spite of the chaos of the past few years. As a producer magnet, Niykee constantly sifts through the many beats that are delivered to her. She finds that most beats spark fresh music ideas. "I'll be able to tell within the first 5 seconds if it's a good beat. Once I have a melody in my brain, I will start writing right away." When I am playing my guitar in my front yard the words begin to flow. A majority of the time it is done in thirty minutes. Niykee states that, as she matures as a singer-songwriter and musician, her memories of her childhood serve as an inspiration. The hurt I experienced growing up as well as losing my younger sister are present in my lyrics even though they're not literally. It shapes my songs and helps to create this greater significance behind everything that is an important thing for me. I want to be able to say that I'll be able to listen to any one of my music 20 years from now and still feel proud of the things I had to say.
