Initiated by the shadows she observed upon the ground and shadows on the ground, the artist spent weeks perfecting the technique used to express objects in two dimensions onto canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a representation of the subject in which the painting becomes the carrier of it's own painterly interpretation, especially when the subject is live or perishable objects, such as people or fruits. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is a bit ephemeral in its nature, can be seen. The only piece from her work that is preserved is the photo. Photography and painting are tightly connected to form a flat two-dimensional surface that is trompe-l'oeil. At certain locations, the third dimensions can be observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3-dimensional space around the models. Interaction between them and the created environment is possible. In this way, she is able to blur the lines between painting, photography and the performance.
