Simone Biles

Simone Biles was an American gymnast born March 14, 1997 in the city of Columbus, Ohio. Biles is thought of as one of the greatest athletes. The 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro she became the first female U.S. gymnast to win four gold medals at the same Games and she was the first gymnast in history to win three consecutive all-around world championships (2013-15). Biles was born at home in Spring Texas, in the Houston metropolitan region. She and her sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone became interested in gymnastics at age six during a day-care field trip to Bannon's Gymnastix and she continued there for 11 years under the coaching of Aimee Boorman. Biles achieved a medal of gold in the floor exercise as well as a bronze in vault at the women's Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010. Then she re-entered the elite competition in 2011. Within less than two years Biles was among the top in her sport. Biles's consistency, her exuberant attitude and level of effort in her four events -- vault uneven bars, floor exercise, vault uneven bars, balance beam floor exercise as well as floor exercises -- have set her aside.
